Last summer on the Côte d’Azur, near Cannes, my Land Rover Defender was stolen. The dog barked triumphantly, as if it had just achieved a personal victory. Despite the damage, I was fortunately able to drive away, though with plenty of draught and a story I certainly won’t forget any time soon.
