Adding a tracker to your drone is the ultimate safety net, but physics and regulations still apply. To ensure your “Black Box” saves your drone without affecting its flight, keep these five factors in mind.
- Avoid Magnets – Strong magnets can disrupt your drone’s compass and cause flyaways. PAJ Finders use straps instead, making them safer for drones. Mount the tracker on the top-rear, away from the compass.
- Watch the 250g Limit – A PAJ tracker adds ~41g. Mini-class drones will exceed 250g and require registration and Remote ID. Check your local rules before flying.
- Don’t Mount on the Battery – Crash impacts often eject the battery. If the tracker is stuck to it, you’ll track the battery — not the drone. Always secure the tracker to the frame.
- Keep Sensors Clear- Don’t block obstacle-avoidance cameras. The top-center “turtle shell” position keeps sensors free.
- Recalibrate Before Takeoff – Extra weight and metal affect the compass. Run a Compass Calibration after mounting the tracker for stable, accurate flight.
